From Warren to Woonsocket, restaurants have booming business on theater nights and new jobs are being created. With projects selected for Providence, Newport, East Providence, Warren, Westerly and Woonsocket, small businesses in those communities can look forward to increased business and additional foot traffic. With a pool of nearly $7 million for a competitive matching grant program for qualified arts organizations, there are opportunities for every community in Rhode Island to realize a benefit from this bond.
$5 million in funding for State Preservation Grants would invest in repairing treasured historic places in local communities. That investment of $5 million is estimated to generate more than $60 million in construction activity. That means jobs for roofers, carpenters, electricians, masons, plumbers, architects, engineers and other specialized craftspeople who are still reeling from the economic downturn.
