This article intends to provide an overview of the delivery of drugs topically (considering mainly semisolid dosage forms). Different topical drug delivery systems have been reviewed considering their advantages and disadvantages and modes of action. Several formulation aspects i.e. things to consider during their formulation, have also been discussed.
